Tomball, Texas—Tomball Christian Warriors head baseball coach Philip Wilkins has set the try-out date for the team’s 2019 spring roster and announced the season’s practice schedule.

The Warriors, a high school varsity baseball team composed wholly of homeschooled athletes, will hold its try-out on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 3:45 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Premier Baseball of Texas Sports Complex. All candidates should wear proper baseball attire, including baseball pants, belts, baseball caps, and t-shirts, and must wear turf shoes at the try-out and whenever they are on Premier’s fields–no metal spikes are allowed at Premier, in order to protect its turf infields.

The baseball team will regularly practice at Premier on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the spring season, also from 3:45 PM to 5:30 PM, with the first practice scheduled for Thursday, February 7.

Coach Wilkins expects the team to play at least twenty games this spring, though it will schedule several more games than that to allow for rain-outs. The Warriors play their home games at Premier, typically on weekdays beginning at 4:00 PM. A tentative schedule is in place, with the first game slated for Wednesday, February 20.

Per-player costs for the season will be $500.00.

Coach Wilkins expects the Warriors to again contend for the state championship of the Texas Christian Athletic League, after finishing second in each of the last two seasons.

Coach Wilkins will again be joined by assistant coaches Jim Cason, Jason Holland, and Joe Schurman. Additionally, Jonathan Fanning, a four-year veteran of Warriors baseball who graduated last spring, will serve the team this spring as bench coach.
