2024 Season Game 1 vs Atlas Rattlers
Written by Varsity Cheerleader Claire Alderson
On August 23, the Tomball Christian Warriors had the opportunity to play the Atlas Rattlers at the Dallas Cowboy’s AT&T Stadium. The Warriors were successful, and the final score was 23-0. After the game, I had the chance to interview both Trevor Parker and Owen Wilkins, two of the Warriors’ Captains. Both plan to play football at the collegiate level, and have several schools currently recruiting them.
Trevor Parker plays slot receiver, and defensive back. This is his third year at TCW. Owen Wilkins is currently playing his second year with TCW. He plays outside linebacker and
running back.
Interview with Trevor:
What do you like about TCW?
Trevor: I like the brotherhood that it is. It’s more than football; its a family. Everyone, the cheerleaders, the football team, and all the fans, this is a family.
What do you like about football?
Trevor: I like being on the field. I like the hype, being with the team, and activities with the team, getting wins.
What are your goals this season?
Trevor: Perfect season. Go win the Natty [National Championship], repeat.
What does being a Captain mean to you?
Trevor: Someone, who is a leader, but has to step up. More than just a leader, they have to be a bigger part of the team. They have to take in to account everybody. They have the accountability, sometimes when its not them. They have to be able to keep the team at peace.
Who do think played well today?
Trevor: Owen Wilkins, Jeremiah [Wilkins], Luke Harrison, the O-Line.
What do you think we did well as a team?
Trevor: As a team, just keeping each other calm. We had moments where we were folding under pressure and fighting with each other, but we kept each other calm.
What did you do well?
Trevor: I think I did well keeping the team under control, keeping the team a unit and not separating under pressure.
Interview with Owen:
What do you like about TCW?
Owen: I like TCW, because its such a good brotherhood for everyone, not even a brotherhood, a sisterhood and a familyhood. I like it a lot because all the families get together and bond with
one another.
What do you like about football?
Owen: The energy, the adrenaline that comes with it. You’re there with all your friends and adrenaline is high. You go on the field and get opportunities like playing at the AT&T Stadium.
What does being a Captain mean to you?
Owen: It means being a leader no matter what is happening involving our team, and a role model for those who need one. I want to be a leader on the team to help guide us to victory in
Florida.
Who do think played well today?
Owen: I think Luke Harrison played very well, offense and defense. He was a beast at defensive end, always containing the outside and being aggressive. As slot, he was a beast at running routes and catching the ball.
What do you think we did well as a team:
Owen: I think at the very beginning we all started falling apart. At halftime, we recognized that we need to stay together as one team. I think it was a good thing as a team to stay as a family
and not breaking apart.
What did you do well?
Owen: People were telling me that I kind of helped the team stay together and held our composure together.
