Written by Varsity Cheerleader Claire Alderson
On Friday, September 13, 2024, the Tomball Christian Warriors battled victoriously against the Boling Bulldogs. The final score was 41-13. The Warriors were dominate against a very strong Bulldog team. The Warrior team executed well and demonstrated exceptional team chemistry.
Offensively, Tomball was led by Quarterback, Caden Alderson, Receiver, Trevor Parker, and Running back, Owen Wilkins. The entire Offensive line put up a great performance, creating opportunities for the Warrior Backs and Receivers.
Defensively, the Warriors smothered the Bulldog running attack. The defensive strong Linebacker corps, spearheaded by defensive player of the Justin Resurreccion and Middle Linebacker, Jeremiah Wilkins. Senior safety, Bryson Zbylot made several key tackles in run support this week.
After the game, I had the opportunity to interview two of our influential seniors, Bryson Zbylot and Justin Resurreccion.
Bryson hopes to graduate next fall and attend Baylor University. Justin will graduate in the spring and plans to play football in college.
Bryson Interview
How long have been a part of TCW?
Bryson: I have played since my freshman year, so four years.
What do you like about TCW?
Bryson: I really love how our whole program is very Christ centered. It’s more about Christ than it actually is about football, we put Christ on a pedestal.
Why do you play football?
Bryson: I started playing football because my brother decided he was going to play. I wanted to do it like my older brother did. I’ve loved it so much that I came back. I love the people. I love the coaches. They make me want to play harder.
What are your goals this year?
Bryson: Go undefeated, get at least 6 interceptions, and catch a touchdown on offense. Win the natty, obviously.
What do you think the team did well?
Bryson: Offense really improved from our last couple games. Caden [Alderson] really stepped up. He’s been a really good Quarterback this week and really improved from the past games. I’m so proud of him stepping into that role. I think that we really executed well, and we executed at a very high level. It was basically a perfect game for us.
Who do you think played well?
Bryson: Owen [Wilkins] had a really great game, running the ball. Defensively, we did struggle. I know it doesn’t really show that on the scoreboard. We had a couple of lucky stops. They were running the ball really, really well. If I could call someone else out on defense, it would be Anthony [Carias]. He was super locked in, never missed his assignment.
What do you think you did well?
Bryson: I think coming downhill, engaging with blockers, filling lanes when the gaps opened up, reading the guards, and making a play.
Justin Interview
How long have been a part of TCW?
Justin: This will be my sixth year.
What do you like about TCW?
Justin: I really love the community and how we’re a family.
Why do you play football?
Justin: I like football because it’s kind of a therapy, an option to get away from the outside world and just do something that is set on one thing.
What are your goals this year?
Justin: Definitely win a national championship, a perfect season, and I would like to be an influence on other people, maybe the underclassmen. Just be an example or a leader that they could look up to.
What do you think the team did well?
Justin: Our team did well communicating, and staying locked in. We had a lot of sloppy mistakes and selfish action in past games. This game really tied us together as a team.
Who do you think played well?
Justin: Daniel Abraham played great. John Gill and Luke Harrison were pretty unguardable today.
What do you think you did well?
Justin: I think I did well adjusting. I got put in a different position that I usually don’t play today just in the moment. I thought I did good handling the pressure, and doing my assignment.
